A Spiritual Weekend in South America
Dec 12, 2024
28 December 2020
Kadampa centers around the world will be holding special events over the New Year and of course into the January retreat month. See https://kadampa.org/2020/12/january-retreats-around-the-world.
Among these, Heruka KMC in London has invited Gen-la Thubten to give a course over the New Year.
Entitled Welcome to Future, the course begins on New Years Eve and finishes on January 2, leaving the evening of December 31 free for traditional festivities.
The course is based on Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche's book The Mirror of Dharma in which Venerable Geshe-la gives essential insights into The Three Principal Aspects of the Path to Enlightenment by Je Tsongkhapa. This is a rare and precious teaching of modern Kadampa Buddhism that comes from the Ganden Emanation Scripture.
As we can see from the brief video excerpt, Gen-la says the heart of the course is Venerable Geshe-la's teaching:
"Anyone who does not wish to experience suffering needs to change their basis of imputation."
The course explores what this means and how it can be accomplished quickly in this life by relying on the paths of Sutra and Tantra.
It is a perfect preparation for those thinking to take or re-take the Highest Yoga Tantra empowerments at this year's Sumner Festival.
The course will be followed by a brief retreat led by Kadam John, the Resident Teacher at Heruka KMC.
