MAGICAL MINDS IN KUALA LUMPUR

From all over Asia - Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Philippines, China, and Thailand - fortunate beings descended on Kuala Lumpur the capital of Malaysia this weekend for the Southeast Asian Dharma Celebration 2019 with Gen Kelsang Rabten the NKT-IKBU National Spiritual Director for the region.

The event was hosted by KMC Singapore with the collaboration of Manjushri Kadampa Buddhist Centre, Selangor.

Magical minds
Gen Kelsang Drolkyi, the Resident Teacher at KMC Singapore, got the Celebration off to a heart-warming start with an inspiring teaching on affectionate love.

The next day, Gen Rabten granted the empowerment of Buddha Manjushri in his warm accessible style, making it a smooth and blissful experience for everyone.

Gen Rabten led us through a series of ‘magical minds,’ inspiring us to be the best we can be, while reassuring us that Venerable Geshe-la was doing the real work on a level that few of us can comprehend.

Understanding the mind
In the afternoon Gen Rabten started teachings on Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche’s book, How to Understand the Mind. He focused particularly on the eleven virtuous mental factors, which are correct sources of happiness. He showed us how to train in these ways of thinking in the context of the Sadhana of Buddha Manjushri, paying particular attention to the minds of faith and non-Ignorance. He taught special meditations on how to attain quick wisdom and overcome the ignorance of unknowing.

All too soon the Celebration came to an end and friends old and new returned happy and inspired to their various countries - some with Kadampa centers and some making fervent prayers for a Kadampa center to arise in their country soon.
