CELEBRATING THE VENERABLE GURU DAKINI
VAJRAYOGINI DAY 2023
The month of January is a special month in the Kadampa calendar during which we emphasise the practices of Heruka and Vajrayogini, the principal Highest Yoga Tantra Deities of modern Kadampa Buddhism. These sublime practices were bestowed on us by Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche and were his heart practices.
Today, the tenth day of the month, is Vajrayogini Day.
Vajrayogini is a female enlightened Deity of Highest Yoga Tantra who is the manifestation of the wisdom of all Buddhas. Her function is to guide all living beings to the Pure Land of Keajra, or Pure Dakini Land.
Kadampa centers around the world celebrate this day with special Vajrayogini practices and Offering to the Spiritual Guide pujas.
We will feature some of these events, including the special Vajrayogini celebrations at the mother center.
In short, may I never be parted from you, Venerable Guru Dakini,
But always come under your care,
And swiftly completing the grounds and paths
Attain the great Dakini state.
