The Emptiness of Feelings

Gen-la Thubten emphasizes the importance of watching our minds and observing our automatic reactions to pleasant or unpleasant feelings. The first step towards letting go of our feelings is to observe them without taking them seriously and to put some space between the feeling arising and our reaction to it. Using this space we can cultivate the wisdom that realizes the non-true existence of feelings. This wisdom is so powerful that it gives us a smooth mind, making the feelings much more manageable.
