Kadam Dharma in Mexico

The seeds of Modern Kadampa Buddhism in Mexico were sown by Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche in January 1991 when he visited the country.

There are now many centers - KMCs, KBCs in Mexico.

The history of Modern Buddhism of the New Kadampa Tradition in Mexico dates back to the fortunate visit of Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche to Mexico in 1991. Venerable Geshela's extraordinary vision to spread the Kadam Dharma throughout the world enabled a group of Kadampa disciples to start with activities of the New Kadampa Tradition in the city of Guadalajara, Jalisco.

First teachings in Cuernavaca were taught in 2009 as a branch of KMC Mexico, and a year later KBC Shakyamuni was founded. In 2019 the center became Kadampa Meditation Center Cuernavaca and in 2021 the center moved to a new and beautiful space with a meditation hall with capacity for 200 people.

Monterrey, Mexico, is a city in north-east Mexico. Kadam Dharma started to flourish in 2008 when the project to start a centre began as a set of branches throughout the city taught by Gen Kelsang Sangden.

Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche sowed the seeds of modern Kadampa Buddhism in Mexico in January 1991 when he visited the country. Venerable Geshe-la had been invited to Guadalajara, where he gave teachings and empowerments.

Avalokiteshvara Buddhist Kadampa Center began in 2011.

The center has continued to thrive and offeres all three study programs of NKT.

In 2006  Venerable Geshe-la founded Compassion Kadampa Buddhist Center in Chetumal. In early 2009 the center moved to the city of Merida, Yucatan which formaly was a branch of the center.

The center continue to grow and serve the local area.

Kadam Dharma arrived in Pachuca de Soto, Hidalgo in 2006, with the support of the Kadampa Meditation Center Mexico. In 2010, it became part of the great Kadampa family as a Center in Hidalgo, under the auspices and name of Je Tsongkhapa.

The center is presently focused on acquiring its own space.

Kadam Dharma arrived in San Cristóbal de Las Casas in February 1994.  A year later, Venerable Geshe-la gave the center the name Drolma Center, which means Tara Center.

At that time Geshela said that the Drolma Center is like a sun benefiting all the people in the region.

Menlha Kadampa Buddhist Centre in the South of Mexico, is located a few blocks away from the renowned Marimba Park in downtown Tuxtla Gutierrez, the capital of the State of Chiapas. The Centre began in 2004 as a branch of Drolma Kadampa Buddhist Centre.
