Spring Festival 2026 Day 1
May 22, 2026
The Nordic community was deeply inspired as we gathered at KMC Oslo for the Nordic National Festival 2026. At the blessing empowerment, granted by Gen-la Kelsang Kunsang, our precious Guru appeared in the form of Medicine Guru, providing a gateway for practitioners to connect with the source of ultimate healing.
Gen-la Kunsang brought great spiritual power to the region through her heartfelt and practical teachings, reminding us to recognize ourselves as a "sick person" when listening to Dharma and of the need to liberate ourselves and others from both inner and outer sickness:
If I need to follow the doctor's advice
When frightened by an ordinary illness,
How much more necessary is it to follow Buddha's advice
When perpetually afflicted by the many harmful diseases of the delusions?
We also followed the example of the ancient Kadampas by immediately putting the teachings into practice during the one day retreat on Monday led by Gen Kelsang Dragpa.
The atmosphere at KMC Oslo was one of pure harmony and service. The center was filled with joyful Kadampas working side-by-side to host this special event. Throughout the Festival, we remembered the extraordinary kindness of our precious Guru, Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche, whose vision continues to bring the healing power of Modern Buddhism to the Nordic people.
Kadampas from across the Southeastern United States gathered at KMC Georgia in Atlanta for a joyful Southern Dharma Celebration, receiving the empowerment ofThousand-Armed Avalokiteshvara and teachings on compassion and emptiness from Kadam Morten Clausen, Eastern US National Spiritual Director of the New Kadampa Tradition and Resident Teacher of KMC New York City.
The theme of the weekend — The Joyful Power of Compassion to Change our Mind and our World — set the tone for three days of inspiring practice and connection. Resident Teacher Kelsang Dechok of KMC Georgia opened the weekend with teachings on Friday evening. On Saturday morning, Gen Kelsang Norbu, Resident Teacher of KMC North Carolina, guided a meditation on bodhichitta; and on Sunday morning, Gen Kelsang Tabkay guided a meditation using the sadhana Yoga of Thousand-Armed Avalokiteshvara.
Together, the Southern Sangha joyfully engaged with the teachings, meditations, and practice — and with one another. All of this was made possible through the boundless kindness of Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche, whose vision continues to bring Kadampas together in every corner of the world.
The sun is shining and it's a delightfully warm English spring day. All day people stream in to Manjushri Kadampa Meditation Centre in the Lake District - on coaches, in cars, by foot and in taxis. As new arrivals head to registration and get oriented, simultaneously preparations continue for the Festival to run smoothly in
