Long life, merit and wisdom

Amitayus retreats
around the world

Part 2

Part 2 of our coverage of the annual inspiring Buddha Amitayus retreats. From Mexico to France, Spain and the Lake District in the UK, participants deepened their practice and received blessings to strengthen their life force, increase wisdom and accumulate merit.

AMITAYUS RETREAT AT THE MOTHER CENTER

An Amitayus weekend retreat took place February 13–15, 2026, at Manjushri Kadampa Meditation Centre in the Lake District, UK. The retreat was guided by Jim Belither, who led six peaceful sessions based on The Yoga of Buddha Amitayus sadhana.

The retreat coincided with the observance of Mahayana Precepts, creating especially auspicious conditions for deepening practice. Participants also enjoyed the first signs of spring appearing around the center, with early flowers beginning to bloom, adding to the serene and joyful atmosphere.

KADAMPA MEDITATION CENTeR MEXICO

During these days, at KMC Mexico, we deepened our practice of Buddha Amitayus, the Buddha of long life, merit and wisdom, with the sincere wish to strengthen our inner qualities and energy for spiritual practice.

By cultivating wisdom, an abundance of good fortune, and strengthening our life force, we create the necessary conditions to live a truly meaningful life. When these qualities flourish, progressing along and completing the spiritual path becomes clearer, more stable, and joyful.

This retreat was guided with great clarity by our Resident Teacher and National Spiritual Director, Gen Kelsang Sangden, to whom we are deeply grateful for inspiring us to continue cultivating a strong, confident, and purposeful mind.

Blessings in Montpellier

On the 8th of February, the community of Kadampa Meditation Center Montpellier gathered to participate in a Buddha Amitayus retreat led by our Resident Teacher, Kadam Olivier.

The sessions and teachings were very inspiring, making this Sunday a particularly blessed and special day. Our heartfelt thanks to Venerable Geshe-la!

annual Buddha Amitayus retreat at KMC Guadalajara

During this retreat at KMC Guadalajara, our Resident Teacher, Gen Shima helped us remember the precious value of our human life, which gives us the opportunity to achieve the ultimate goal of benefiting all sentient beings every day, in the ways they need. With good motivation and faith, we completed each session, understanding that to fulfill our purpose we need long life, wisdom, and good fortune.

This retreat helped us develop a deep and close connection with Amitayus, so we are always under his care and protection and can receive his blessings.

Thanks to Gen Shima for her loving guidance and clarity, to all participants for their kind hearts and presence, and to our precious Spiritual Guide for showing us the right path and accompanying us every step of the way.

THE BLESSINGS OF BUDDHA AMITAYUS AT MENLHA KBC IN MEXICO

This past weekend, we gathered at Kadampa Buddhist Center Menlha to participate in a Buddha Amitayus retreat. With a sincere intention, we devoted ourselves to praying, meditating, and receiving blessings to strengthen our life force, merit and wisdom. Through the blessings of Amitayus we can increase our lifespan, and more importantly, use each day of our precious life to progress on the spiritual path.

By dedicating time to retreats like this, we plant deep causes for a meaningful life, inner peace, and to benefit others.

May the blessings of Buddha Amitayus remain in our hearts, and may we use our long and precious lives to cultivate love, compassion, and wisdom. Thanks to all who participated with faith and joy. May we all have long, virtuous and meaningful lives!
