Annual Retreats:
The opportunity to reinforce a good habit

Annual retreats give us the opportunity to set aside specific times of the year to focus on a spiritual practice. They are like small oases of peace within everyday life, turning ordinary moments into something truly extraordinary. Here are retreats organized by KMC Georgia (US), KMC London & Heruka KMC (UK), and KMC Peru.

Second Annual Southern Centers Mountain Meditation Retreat

This past weekend, over 100 people from our Southern Region centers and branches in Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee came together in the beautiful North Carolina mountains for our second annual Mountain Meditation Retreat. It was a wonderful opportunity to plant powerful seeds for the flourishing of the precious Kadam Dharma throughout the region.

Both seasoned and new practitioners practiced the sublime Mahamudra meditation, Identifying Our Own Mind, according to the book, Mahamudra Tantra. The retreat was guided by the Resident Teachers of each center – Gen Norbu, Kadam Sharon, Gen Tabkay, Kadam Ethan, and Kelsang Dechok. The stillness in the meditation hall was palpable, and lively, meaningful Dharma discussions could be heard during afternoon and evening meals.

On Saturday afternoon, participants enjoyed relaxing around a campfire, sharing s’mores, and connecting with both new and long-time Sangha friends.

We offer our heartfelt thanks to Geshe-la for making this inspiring retreat possible. Plans are already underway for next December’s 3rd Annual Southern Centers Mountain Meditation Retreat, and many are saving the date.

A JOINT LONDON AWAY RETREAT aT TARA IKRC

In mid-November, practitioners from Heruka KMC and KMC London came together for a very special event — the first joint retreat between the London centers, held at the peaceful Tara IKRC. Participants travelled from across the UK and even from abroad, including Peru, to enjoy a weekend of meditation and wisdom teachings under the theme Relax into Reality.

The three London Resident Teachers — Kadam John, Kadam Ai Peng, and Gen Zoma — offered clear and practical guidance on how Buddha’s wisdom helps us loosen our grasping and settle into the way things truly are. Each session included guided meditations on the emptiness of the body and self, allowing everyone to deepen their experience step by step.

The retreat also included Wishfulfilling Jewel with tsog on Saturday evening, presided over by Gen-la Khyenrab, which added a rich and uplifting spiritual dimension. By the final session, the atmosphere was noticeably calmer and more contemplative, reflecting the time spent meditating, reflecting, and supporting one another. The weekend concluded with a long, peaceful meditation on the emptiness of the self, leaving everyone with new friendships and a deeper inner confidence in the path of wisdom.

We offer our heartfelt thanks to Geshe-la for making this inspiring retreat possible. This memorable weekend marked an encouraging start to new collaborations between the London centers.

Connecting with the Wisdom of Green Tara in peru

On December 6 and 7, Kadampa Meditation Center Peru enjoyed a deeply meaningful weekend as the community gathered to engage in the 21 Homages to Tara, the female Buddha of wisdom. The event was filled with joy, peace and heartfelt devotion, as practitioners connected with the profound blessings of Green Tara and strengthened their relationship with this powerful wisdom Buddha.

All of this was made possible through the boundless kindness of our precious Spiritual Guide, whose inspiration enables practitioners throughout the world to engage in these sacred practices.

May many more people in Peru discover the beauty, protection and transformative power of connecting with Green Tara, and through her wisdom find a path to peace and hope.
