Early November was a special time for Western Canada, as we welcomed guest Teacher Gen Kelsang Demo to give a public talk in Vancouver on November 6th. Despite the dark and rainy evening, nearly 100 people filled Heritage Hall to hear Gen Demo speak on The Power of a Calm Mind. Many attendees were new to Kadampa teachings and shared how moved they felt by her explanation of transforming difficulties into growth. This was followed by the Western Canada Dharma Celebration.
At KMC Georgia, practitioners gathered for a weekend of teachings with Gen Kelsang Gomlam on the topic of death and dying. She guided attendees to contemplate what the mind truly is and what continues after death. Through this understanding, she showed how wisdom and compassion can grow in everyday life. The meditation room was full, and participants expressed heartfelt appreciation for the clarity and beauty of the teachings and the efforts of the volunteers.
On November 23rd, KMC Nottingham welcomed Gen Jigme, Resident Teacher at Bodhisattva KMC in Brighton. He taught a one day course on emptiness, exploring this profound topic with clarity, humor, and depth. Participants expressed deep gratitude for the accessible and powerful explanation he provided.
