Celebrating Turning the Wheel of Dharma Day and the Birthday of our Spiritual Guide
Jun 4, 2026
What a truly blessed evening at Mahamudra Kadampa Meditation Center!
During his recent visit to Hermosa Beach, Gen-la Kelsang Jampa shared profound wisdom and encouragement, reminding us how precious it is to have pure Dharma teachings in our lives.
The evening was filled with inspiration, joy, and heartfelt connection. We reflected on the incredible good fortune of having qualified spiritual teachers who guide us with clarity and compassion, helping us keep our minds peaceful and our hearts open.
We rejoice in the flourishing of Dharma here in the South Bay and Los Angeles, and we are deeply grateful to everyone who made this event possible. May the seeds planted in our hearts continue to grow and contribute to a more peaceful world.
KMC Colorado joyfully celebrated the installation of our Dharma Wheel, Deer, and Vajras—marking our temple as a beacon for world peace—and raised funds with a joyful Pizza Party.
This summer also brought creative inspiration through our Drawing the Face of Buddha and Mala Making courses, where participants deepened their understanding of Dharma while crafting meaningful art.
We are deeply grateful to everyone who made these events possible, and to Venerable Geshe-la, whose vision and compassion continually inspire us. May these activities bring peace, wisdom, and happiness to all.
Over Labor Day weekend, practitioners from across Florida gathered for our Seven-Center Annual Peaceful Getaway Retreat, a special event based on Guide to the Bodhisattva’s Way of Life by the great master Shantideva. This timeless text offers a step-by-step guide to living with compassion, wisdom, and faith in today’s world. The theme of this year's retreat was: Benefiting Others by Becoming Your Best Self.
Throughout the retreat, Resident Teachers from the seven Kadampa centers in Florida shared profound teachings and guided meditations designed to awaken our pure potential. Together, we explored how becoming our best self is not only possible, but also the most powerful way to benefit those around us.
On Friday, August 29, the first day of our Annual Peaceful Getaway Retreat, KMC Florida's new sign was delivered—what an auspicious day! We welcomed over 100 participants from across the state, creating a vibrant community filled with learning, laughter, and meaningful connection. Alongside the inspiring sessions, we enjoyed delicious meals—including what may have been the best burritos on the beach. After all, when in Florida, do as the Floridians do!
June 4 is the Turning the Wheel of Dharma Day on which we celebrate Buddha’s first teaching in this world - the first Turning of the Wheel of Dharma. It is also the birthday of Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche, the Founder of NKT.
