Ordination Day – Summer Festival 2026
Jul 24, 2026
It’s a rainy day today but as we meditate, session upon session, you feel the truth about happiness not depending on external conditions.
Some of the downpours that come during meditation sessions even enhance the feeling of the meditation — a downpour of love, a downpour of blessings. In one session we contemplate that if we shine the sun of our faith on the snow mountain of our Spiritual Guide his water-like blessings flow into our heart..
Gen-la Khyenrab is guiding a masterful retreat with simple, precise instructions that guide us to very clear meditation objects. Then lots of time to deepen our experience in meditation and really hold the various objects we have learned about during the Festival in our minds. This helps us to consolidate our understanding and feel the transforming power of these meditation objects in our minds. There is a deep, prevailing peace and quietness during the silent parts of the meditation as we go on our individual inner journeys together.
How is it possible to have such quiet with so many people in the midst of the rain and wind? Only because we are sitting in the safe refuge of the Kadampa Temple, everyone practicing consideration for each other, and together we are doing our best to concentrate sincerely on virtuous objects.
There is no doubt that uncommonly pure karma is being created for future realizations and great results.
Today is a special day in our Kadampa calendar. It is the Summer Festival 2026 ordination ceremony and the Temple is filled with the international community of ordained Sangha and 9 new ordainees who are receiving ordination from Gen-la Khyenrab.
