NKT Day Celebrations 2025
The first Saturday of April of each year is NKT Day, during which we celebrate the founding of the New Kadampa Tradition by Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche in 1991. Kadampa centers around the world organize special retreats, events, and prayers.
Dear Venerable Geshe-la, our precious Spiritual Guide, on this special day, we celebrate your extraordinary vision of creating and sustaining the New Kadampa Tradition.
Centers celebrated in so many ways. Here are just a few of various centers' activities.
KMC COLORADO: Celebrating 25 years AND NKT DAY
We just celebrated our 25th Anniversary with a really blissful Buddha Shakyamuni empowerment on NKT Day, followed by profound and practical teachings on Buddhism and the Liberating Prayer.
We are truly grateful to everyone who has gotten us this far! Thank you.May our community continue to grow in compassion and wisdom for the next 25+ years.
KMC Canada in Toronto
The ordained Sangha gathered to begin this special and auspicious day, NKT Day 2025, with Sojong Ceremony led by KMC Canada’s Resident Teacher, Gen Kelsang Chodor. It was followed by a wonderful community lunch.
We celebrated and remembered the kindness of Venerable Geshe-la, who established the tradition for the benefit of all living beings, with Offering to the Spiritual Guide prayers attended by many, both in-person and online.
The festivities continued with the NKT video created for the day, followed by an enthralling presentation by Admin Director Kelsang Togden, of future plans for KMCC. The spiritual community was very happy to hear the strategic plan created by the Managers to carry out Venerable Geshe-la's vision.
KMC BARCELONA: CELEBRATION AND URBAN COURSE
To celebrate NKT Day in Barcelona we held a special course at our center in c/Berlin 97 called Tantra in Daily Life taught by Gen Kelsang Lochani.
More than 100 people enjoyed profound teachings on this course. We also showed videos about the International Temples Project, and held a mala workshop and a torma workshop to celebrate the great fortune of being part of the New Kadampa Tradition.
Many thanks to all our Sangha who make it possible to keep growing so that Dharma spreads in all directions.
BEAUTIFying KMC QUEBEC JUST IN TIME FOR NKT DAY!

Thank you to our two very kind and talented volunteers, François and Sonia, for their time and patience in creating beautiful signage for our registration area. Everyone commented on how nice and welcoming it now looks.
The following week, André and Marie-Claude put up the wonderful banner explaining in detail all the incredible deeds that Venerable Geshe-la has accomplished for us and the people of future generations in just 40 years. What incredible kindness! Now, everyone visiting the center can read, find out and be touched by this remarkable being.
We enjoyed a special course given by our Resident Teacher, Marie-Claude, and concluded this very auspicious day with a tsog party and community gathering, filled with laughter, enjoying each other's company and deeply appreciating the opportunity we now have.

ODIYANA KMC CELEBRATED WITH JE TSONGKHAPA EMPOWERMENT
We opened our hearts to Guru Je Tsongkhapa, who is an emanation of the wisdom, compassion, and spiritual power of all Buddhas.
In the morning, we engaged in peaceful guided meditation and experienced the powerful blessings of the empowerment and in the afternoon, Gen Kelsang Dema gave a practical explanation of how to practice Heart Jewel prayers to maintain our connection with Je Tsongkhapa. We then engaged in Heart Jewel prayers together.

HERUKA KBC IN ALICANTE
We celebrated NKT Day at Heruka KBC in Alicante. How wonderful! Thanks to all of you for making it possible. Thank you, Geshe-la.
AT SUKHAVATI KBC IN QUERETARO
This Saturday, Kadampas all over the world united in gratitude and joy, appreciating the immense good fortune of having a supreme Spiritual Guide, a pure tradition, and Temples, centers, books, practices and Festivals. All this makes it possible to walk with Venerable Geshe-la towards enlightenment in this busy modern world.
