This week in South America saw gatherings that offered space for reflection, meaningful conversations, and a sense of community. Curious about the insights and stories shared? Discover the highlights that made this week special.
KMC Chile welcomed visiting Teacher, Gen Tonglam, National Spiritual Director of Kadampa Buddhism in East Asia and Resident Teacher of KMC Hong Kong. His teaching focused on a powerful message: world peace is possible if we cultivate inner peace. To reach this goal, we must learn to change our minds, and the wisest way to do so is to cherish others and reduce selfish-centeredness through practicing Buddha’s teachings.
More than 170 people gathered at the KMC Argentina to attend a public talk on Meditation and Mental Health with Gen Rabten. Attendees received valuable advice on how to identify, reduce, and ultimately eliminate anxiety.
Thousands of visitors had the chance to see images of Buddha, purchase Geshe-la’s books, and some even received teachings from Gen Chokyong, the Resident Teacher at KMC Chile. Tharpa’s stickers featuring quotes from the books were especially popular, capturing the attention of thousands of children attending the fair.
The vision of our Teacher, Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, is to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to encounter and follow Buddha’s teachings—methods for attaining personal liberation and full enlightenment.
Venerable Geshe-la has made this vision a reality by creating a special presentation of these teachings, authoring 23 books that focus on developing a practical understanding of Buddhism. His students work tirelessly to bring these teachings to more and more people, which is why Tharpa Chile, the publishing house of the New Kadampa Tradition in Chile, took part in the International Book Fair in Santiago, the country’s largest book fair.
