Celebrating Turning the Wheel of Dharma Day and the Birthday of our Spiritual Guide
Jun 4, 2026
Two years ago as Colorado was opening up again after COVID, KMC Colorado found a building full of potential, in a great neighborhood of Denver. After a year of designing and receiving permits, 2023 has seen us thoroughly gutting and renovating the whole building, all while keeping our spiritual program going, creating new branches, living in a temporary Dharma house, and setting up pop-up locations far and wide.
With a little over a month to go, volunteers have been installing flooring, repainting furniture, building a patio, and landscaping our gardens. Our new building will have a really spacious and light-filled meditation room, comfortable community areas both inside and out, a bookstore, a second meditation room, six rooms for residents, and a teacher apartment. The Center is located in the popular Slo-Hi neighbourhood of West Denver, just four blocks from Denver’s largest lake and park, Sloan’s Lake.
Permits permitting, our move-in date will hopefully be in December and our official opening will be in March 2024 with Gen-la Jampa giving the Bodhisattva Vow.
June 4 is the Turning the Wheel of Dharma Day on which we celebrate Buddha’s first teaching in this world - the first Turning of the Wheel of Dharma. It is also the birthday of Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche, the Founder of NKT.
