Canadian Dharma Celebrations 2024 ~ Part 1
Nov 26, 2024
One of the major projects for 2023 is the construction of a substantial urban temple complex for Mexico City. As we can see the work is nearing completion and the temple will be opened by Gen-la Dekyong on April 6, just before the Mexican Festival.
"The magnificent main meditation room, which will accommodate 400 people, is complete and is awaiting the delivery of temple size statues from Kadampa Art Studio at Manjushri KMC.
"The shrine is made of Mexican green stone (cantera verde mexicana), as are the columns and the facade. The shrine will be enclosed by 4-meter glass.
"The ceiling has Mexican style wooden beams, and in the center there is the Dharma wheel made of precious wood."
"With traditional Mexican Talavera style cobblestones, we have the World Peace Café, which is going to be a fully operational café that will be open from 9 am to 9 pm to serve the entire city. Everyone is welcome."
"There are substantial offices that will house Kadampa Mexico, Tharpa Mexico and much more."
"On the first floor we have a very large kitchen for the entire residence and also to cater for the World Peace Café at events.
"There is an elevator for people with reduced mobility."
"The facade, also made of traditional stone and displaying traditional Mexican colours, is a wonderful example of avant-garde architecture.
"This will be enhanced by the auspicious symbols, Dharma wheel and deers being dispatched from Kadampa Art Studio.
"Finally the whole area will be landscaped."
