In 2009, Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche gave KMC Spain a Bodhi tree sapling, which was descended from the original tree in Bodh Gaya beneath which Buddha attained enlightenment.

The tree was planted and is flourishing near the new Temple in KMC Spain. Later they gave a cutting from their young tree to KMC Portugal, which they have cherished and nurtured since.

This year on Buddha's Enlightenment Day KMC Portugal marked the occasion by planting their sapling out in view of their Temple.

Now the original Bodhi tree from Bodh Gaya in India will increase its spread to more people in Europe. How wonderful.
