Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche inaugurated the annual International Kadampa Festivals to provide the international community with an opportunity to gather three times a year. He explained that these gatherings are essential for the growth and development of the International Kadampa Buddhist Union.

At the moment we are not able to arrange physical international gatherings, but we can still meet at national, regional and local gatherings and enjoy mini Festivals. There are many Festival getaways organised by Kadampa centers around the world where, though not international, we can enjoy the Festival in the company of other practitioners.

Such arrangements have been in place for the last four International Festivals, when physical international gathering have not been possible, and everyone who has taken part testifies to the tremendous benefits of these mini Festivals.
