ABIDING IN THE TRUTH BODY, THE BLISSFUL PURE LAND
Today, Tara Day, as hundreds of Kadampas around the world engage in 24-hour Tara prayers, our thoughts naturally turn to the Fall Festival in two weeks time when Gen-la Dekyong will grant the blessing empowerment of Buddha Tara and teach a rare and precious practice in association with her.
Only the second time the practice has been taught
It was almost 25 years ago when Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche introduced the practice known as The Path to Heaven, and this Festival will be only the second time it has been taught.
PURE LAND OF THE TRUTH BODY
Within the three types of Pure Land, Venerable Geshe-la says in this practice we emphasise attaining the Pure Land of the Dharmakaya, or Truth Body.
As Guru Tara says to us during the practice:
"Come and abide in the Truth Body,
The Blissful Pure Land here in my heart."
Venerable Geshe-la explains that during the practice 'we have a great opportunity to attain an imagined Pure Land of Dharmakaya. This has great purpose. If we accomplish this imagined Pure Land now and remember it at the time of our death we will definitely be reborn in the Emanation Body Pure Land of Arya Tara or Vajrayogini if this is our main practice. '
This empowerment and teaching are indeed a rare and precious jewel that are not to be missed.
