It is less than a year since International Kadampa Retreat Center Grand Canyon opened its doors to the public and began an ever expanding programme of retreats and courses with the Resident Teacher Gen-la Kelsang Jampa, the Deputy Spiritual Director of NKT-IKBU, as well as many visiting Kadampa Teachers.
New Temple
IKRC Grand Canyon will be the site of a Kadampa Temple for World Peace based on the new five-tier design, which is scheduled to open in fall 2019. In March this year a groundbreaking ceremony marked the beginning of the construction of the Temple. Since then remarkable progress has been made, as you can see from these extraordinary photos.
IKRC Grand Canyon is located in Williams, Arizona, less than an hour from the Grand Canyon. It is surrounded by acres and acres of beautiful ponderosa pine forest. Everyone is welcome to experience this beautiful retreat environment. See their Facebook page.
Dedicated community
IKRC Grand Canyon is part of NKT-IKBU, an international spiritual community dedicated to achieving world peace through following the Buddhist path.
The center community consists of lay and ordained residents who live on site and others who live in the local area.
You will find a warm, friendly community who strive to exemplify Buddhist practice through public service. This includes providing everyone, regardless of background, experience or belief, the opportunity to learn how to achieve inner peace and happiness through meditation. Come and see for yourself.
It is also the temporary home of a large community of volunteers who are helping with the Temple project.
Enquiries about working visits and long-term residence are welcome.
