Our Centre was established in 1996, under the direction of our Founder, Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche, who gave us the name Joyful Land Buddhist Centre. At that time we were located on Somerset Street in Centretown Ottawa. Over the years, we grew as a Centre, providing Kadampa classes and spiritual events for the people of Ottawa, and starting branches at various locations. In 2005, we were able to purchase a new, larger building, just down the street from our former Centre. It has a beautiful meditation room, bookshop and social area, and room for 5 residents to live in the floors above.
In 2021, we became Kadampa Meditation Centre Ottawa. We continue to provide classes for all levels of study, and are exploring ways of reaching more and more people in the Ottawa area.
