The Mid-Atlantic Dharma Celebration 2023 was held at KMC Maryland. Kadam Morten, National Spiritual Director for Eastern USA granted the blessing empowerment of Buddha Amitayus and gave inspiring teachings on this practice.
To celebrate NKT Day, KMC Montreal organized its first fundraiser, Walk for World Peace. They went to Mount Royal to walk for peace and enjoy the sunshine, meditation and picnic at the summit.
KMC Vancouver & KMC Fraser Valley held a joint retreat nestled in beautiful Bowen Island, BC, Canada.
The two Resident Teachers, Gen Kelsang Delek & Gen Kelsang Sanden, using the book, The New Eight Steps to Happiness, guided 40 participants into some of Buddhism’s most-loved teachings.
Boston has the fourth most colleges of any U.S. city, and KMC Boston has been making connections! Last couple of weeks Gen Khedrub, the Resident Teacher at KMC Boston and himself a Harvard alumnus, taught a series of meditation classes for the students, faculty and staff at Harvard University.
Around 200 people gathered at Phoenix Art Museum this week for a transformative evening with Gen-la Kelsang Jampa, Resident Teacher at IKRC Grand Canyon and Deputy Spiritual Director of NKT. Gen-la shared practical advice from Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche in the teaching: “If you want to be happy, you need to develop a peaceful mind; if you want to make others happy, you need to cherish them.”
On Saturday morning, the IKRC Grand Canyon had the regular Free Pancake Breakfast & Open House. Over 90 people, from all over Northern Arizona came to see the 5th Kadampa World Peace Temple, meet the growing community, enjoy some pancakes and learn about inner peace.
Every January since 2008, KMC Texas has held a major public talk at the prestigious Dallas Museum of Art (DMA). This year the Resident Teacher Gen Menla gave a talk on the Pure Bliss of Tantra which was attended by over 250 people and was very well received.

With January already their busiest time of the year, they needed to be crafty about how they could cater to lots of newcomers while simultaneously creating retreat conditions for those wanting to engage in the Guru Sumati Buddha Heruka close retreat.
While most centers have completed their winter retreats some retreats continue at the International retreat centers and elsewhere.
At IKRC Grand Canyon they are now entering the fifth week of the Mountain Retreat focusing on tranquil abiding.
