NKT Day Celebrations 2026
The first Saturday of April of each year is NKT Day, during which we celebrate the founding of the New Kadampa Tradition by Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche in 1991 — this year marking 35 years of Kadam Dharma flourishing throughout the world. Kadampa centers around the world organize special retreats, events and prayers.

KMC DEAUCHEN IN PORTUGAL
IKRC GRAND CANYON IN US
Over the NKT Day weekend, over 50 people joined for a retreat on The Emptiness that is Empty of the Eight Extremes with Gen Kelsang Demo and Gen Kelsang Khedrub. With a special NKT Day Wishfulfilling Jewel and in the beautiful Arizona spring, they spent five meaningful days hearing profound teachings on emptiness and taking time to meditate deeply on their meaning.
KMC BARCELONA IN SPAIN
It was such a joy to see KMC Barcelona so full of life celebrating NKT Day! Between the insightful Q&A with Gen Kelsang Lochani (thanks for the amazing questions!), the mala and torma making workshops, and our community lunch, it was a day truly packed with meaningful activity.
KMC CAMPINAS IN BRAZIL
KMC Campinas held the Nyungne Fasting and Purification Retreat concluding with Offering to the Spiritual Guide prayers to celebrate NKT Day.
They were days of many blessings and an opportunity for the Campinas Sangha to enjoy each other's company.
KMC Indaiatuba IN BRAZIL
NKT Day in Indaiatuba was celebrated with a Mahayana Refuge and Bodhisattva Vow Ceremony.
KMC VANCOUVER IN CANADA
At KMC Vancouver, we celebrated NKT Day with a day course taught by visiting Teacher Gen Khacho, and then we enjoyed a community potluck and cakes!
The following day, Gen Khacho visited the Fraser Valley to teach this course to the community there.
