Work Day with Resident Teachers preparing for International Summer Festival
Jul 21, 2026
KMC Brazil joyfully celebrated the 15th anniversary of the Temple on Je Tsongkhapa Day with a special program led by KMC Brazil’s Resident Teacher, Gen Drime, and the Resident Teacher of Ganden Ling, Gen Loten. The day also featured an inspiring class with the National Spiritual Director, Gen Mudita, followed by a joyful group wave around the Temple—a heartfelt expression of gratitude and community spirit.
During September and October, KMC Brazil hosted a six-week Heruka Close Retreat, which concluded on October 20 with a powerful Fire Puja. The day before, three beautiful rainbows appeared in the sky—one above IKRC Ganden Ling as participants engaged in a tsog offering marking the end of the retreat, and another arching over the entire Temple—an auspicious and uplifting sign for everyone present.
This weekend was filled with wonderful happenings at KMC Durban. We enjoyed a deeply meaningful Guru Yoga and Mandala Offering Retreat, as well as an Offering to the Spiritual Guide Puja in celebration of Je Tsongkhapa Day. For all of us in the New Kadampa Tradition, it’s a day we look forward to with joy—a time to appreciate the immense kindness of Je Tsongkhapa and how he continues to help us in practical ways today.
But something else very special happened on Je Tsongkhapa Day at KMC Durban, the home of Tharpa South Africa…
After a long time, with many conditions preventing us from reaching this point, the new Tharpa South Africa website was launched! Through the kind efforts of those working for Tharpa in both South Africa and the UK, we went live with the first phase—downloadable products! (With the next phase to follow soon.)
We couldn’t stop smiling. It feels as though a portal has opened at the tip of Africa—one through which desperately needed Buddhist wisdom can flow, in the form of Venerable Geshe-la’s books and prayers.
The incredible gift of Modern Buddhism that Venerable Geshe-la has given to our world is now available on the Tharpa South Africa website. Thank you, Venerable Geshe-la!
On Sunday, Resident Teachers participating in the International Teacher Training Program took a break from their studies to help with the Summer Festival Preparations.
