Today Gen-la Dekyong explained that we can see our Dharma books as our Spiritual Guide. In this video people talk about how the books of Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso help them in their life.
Alongside receiving teachings and deepening our understanding and practice of Dharma, Kadampa Festivals allow us to have many auspicious meetings and some truly unique opportunities.
Throughout the Festival there are both formal and informal meetings and gatherings. The Annual NKT AGM is held with all the international Teachers in attendance together with key managers of the NKT. There are also separate meetings held for center managers, enabling important information and encouragement to be shared.
You also see smaller groups, such as Sangha of individual countries gathering together, Teachers meeting with their students, and meetings between friends from previous Festivals.
Tours are arranged to see the inner workings of the Kadampa Art Studio where you can see how hard people work behind the scenes to create such highly qualified statues. At this year’s Festival people were delighted by the many new statues that appeared for personal shrines.
Kadampas have so many skills and being together at the Festival is a precious time that can be used to provide benefit to centers throughout the year: Modern Buddhism podcasts are developed and recorded; our own Kadampa stock photos are created; ideas and inspiration are shared. The list goes on!
In this way we can see how skillful our Founder, Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche, was to create this format of regular International Festivals where so much essential unification and development takes place. We begin to understand how vital it is to attend Festivals to maintain our International Kadampa Buddhist Union for our present and future generations.
Of course at the heart of the Festival experience are the teaching sessions in the Temple. It's the final day of teachings with Gen-la Dekyong and they are very special indeed. Gen-la shares many unique teachings given by Geshe-la over the years that relate to Atisha's Advice from the Heart. Sharing precious jewels of Dharma that she has cared for, like a treasure, giving to us everything at the appropriate time.
She helps us to understand the deep and hidden meaning in the final verses from Atisha's Advice. Everything is held in Lamrim, both Sutra and Tantra, and her teachings skillfully draw out this deep understanding, so that we see the profound meaning and possibilities of following the Kadampa way of life to completion.
She reminds us so kindly how to stay deeply and personally connected to Venerable Geshe-la through his books. Having found riches beyond our imagination we now need to show the value of Kadam Lamrim as presented by Geshe-la, showing that a correct path to freedom and happiness exists.
Continuing the 40 year celebrations at Madhyamaka KMC, UK NSD Kadam Bridget Heyes taught a special weekend course called Supreme Inner Peace, while at KMC Cuernavaca in Mexico Gen Nampur gave a public talk called The Internal Enemy of Anger.
