Turning the Wheel of Dharma Day

Celebrating Turning of the Wheel of Dharma

Today we celebrate the first turning of the Wheel of Dharma by Buddha Shakyamuni, when he gave teachings on the Four Noble Truths to his close disciples at Sarnath. Through the kindness of Buddha, holy Dharma appeared in this world, benefiting generation after generation, providing hope for those with no refuge, and guidance for those seeking liberation from suffering and full enlightenment of Buddhahood. Through the power of our virtuous activities and our prayers, may holy Dharma always remain in this world.

Today we also celebrate the birthday of our dearly loved Spiritual Guide Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso. We dedicate all merit to Venerable Geshe-la’s continued long life, good health and the success of all his activities. Out of immeasurable kindness he has revealed the path to liberation and enlightenment, so we now have the opportunity to experience real happiness and freedom from suffering. By taking his advice to heart may we be able to fulfil his perfect vision of bringing Dharma to every country throughout the world.
