The function of meditation is to instill peace in our mind. Where does inner peace come from? Peace arises in our mind when our busy mind slows down. We can use the space in our mind to develop a peaceful mind. What is inner peace? Inner peace is the cessation of our noisy mind. Even the initial experience of inner peace is a jewel, and we can grow this jewel. When this jewel reaches its full potential, that is enlightenment, and we can accomplish this. What gets in the way of a peaceful mind? Looking for happiness in external things alone.
