The first day of Festival is a beautiful day, showing the Lake District at its very best, with all the peaks of the mountains visible and the sea tranquil and beautiful in Morecambe Bay. As the international Kadampa family\u00a0arrives\u00a0at Manjushri Kadampa Meditation\u00a0Center\u00a0they are greeted by friendly faces and immaculate grounds and gardens,\u00a0which are\u00a0the result of many weeks of preparation.\u00a0 Volunteers have been creating perfect conditions for campers throughout the woods, for\u00a0guests staying\u00a0in the main building, for\u00a0families to enjoy\u00a0activities on the lawn and for every aspect of the\u00a0Festival\u00a0to run smoothly.<\/p>\r\n

\r\n\t\tDay 1 ~ It’s Festival Time!\r\n\t<\/h2>\r\n\t

There is a steady stream of people arriving throughout the day and you can feel the anticipation building as the\u00a0Festival\u00a0swells.\u00a0 It is a\u00a0joy for some to be together once again, for others it is exciting to be visiting the Mother\u00a0Center, to see the World Peace Temple, or to be attending their first International\u00a0Festival.<\/p>\r\n\t\"\"\r\n\t

Everyone is looking forward to setting aside the ordinary to focus on their spiritual lives for a concentrated period of time.\u00a0 In the evening we enter the\u00a0Temple\u00a0and receive our first glimpse of\u00a0the empowerment shrine.\u00a0 There is a beautifully crafted golden\u00a0Buddha Prajnaparamita\u00a0statue shimmering in the midst of a sea of rose\u00a0colored\u00a0flowers and surrounded by exquisite offerings.<\/p>\r\n

\r\n\t\tForget your problems with Gen-la Kunsang\r\n\t<\/h2>\r\n\t\"\"\r\n\t

We settle our minds with prayers, powerfully recited by thousands of people all together. Then we listen to the first teaching with Gen-la Kelsang Kunsang who encourages us to make a plan. \u00a0She asks\u00a0us questions about what we want to\u00a0achieve\u00a0with our\u00a0spiritual\u00a0holiday and\u00a0shares\u00a0advice on how to make best use of this opportunity.<\/p>\r\n
