The 2008 National Canadian Kadampa Festival was held in Toronto from March 20 to March 25 with the Deputy Spiritual Director, Gen-la Kelsang Khyenrab.
Over 250 people attended from across Canada as well as from the US to receive the empowerment of Je Tsongkhapa, Guru Sumati Buddha Heruka.
After an opening introduction from the National Spiritual Director, Gen Kelsang Delek, Gen-la gave two teachings on Friday that covered the entire Lamrim; or stages to the path to Enlightenment.
Before the empowerment and in the morning sessions, the meditations were led by the Resident Teacher of KMC Canada, Kelsang Thekchen.
After the empowerment on Saturday morning, Gen-la followed with a commentary to the practice. The rest of the weekend he continued to give teachings on both generation stage and completion stage of Tantra.
Monday and Tuesday were retreat sessions led by Gen Delek and on Monday afternoon there was time to view the resident accommodation offered by the Canadian Temple. The prayers, Offering to the Spiritual Guide were held in the evening of March 25, a beautiful end to a powerful Festival.
